My name is Ian McAlpine, and I am an experienced mountain guide with over 1,700 ascents of Mount Taranaki. I run Mt Taranaki Guided Tours.

I have extensive experience on the New Zealand Alps and have climbed in Nepal, India and Antarctica.

I am an Official Guide for Mt Taranaki/Egmont, and have been a Department of Conservation Guiding concessionaire since 1992.

All the Mt Taranaki Guided Tours lead guides have either New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Association or New Zealand Mountain Guides Association qualifications, so you can feel safe in our hands.

We have more than 30 years mountain experience, to keep clients having fun while being safe.
